Selah App | Last updated: March 12, 2026
1. Introduction & Mission
Selah (“the App”) is a mobile platform designed to help users discover and reflect on Bible scripture based on their emotions, life situations, and spiritual needs. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of privacy. Selah does not require account registration, and we do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as names, physical addresses, or phone numbers.
2. Detailed Data Collection
To provide a functional and personalized experience, we collect data through different interaction points in the app:
A) Technical & Diagnostic Information
We collect basic technical data to maintain app stability and performance:
- Device Metadata: Device type, operating system version, and app version.
- Performance Logs: Basic technical diagnostics related to app crashes or stability events.
B) Navigation & Reading Activity
When you use traditional Bible navigation (selecting books, chapters, and verses), the app may record:
- Scripture accessed (Book and Chapter).
- Reading session duration and progress statistics.
- Features used to discover specific passages.
C) Search Queries & User Inputs
Selah processes text inputs voluntarily entered by the user to improve search accuracy:
- Keyword Searches: Words related to life situations (e.g., "forgiveness," "patience") or spiritual topics.
- Timestamps: When a search event occurred and which results were subsequently opened.
3. Health, Emotion, and Well-being Data Disclosure
Comprehensive Disclosure: Because Selah provides scripture recommendations based on personal context, the app processes data that relates to your emotional state or mental well-being. This is a core part of the App's functionality.
Types of Data Collected:
- Emotional Categories: Selection of categories such as Stress, Anxiety, Sadness, Gratitude, Fear, or Loneliness.
- AI-Assisted Inputs: Free-text descriptions where users may share what they are experiencing (e.g., "I feel anxious about the future" or "I am struggling with grief").
- Interaction Context: Which emotional recommendations were opened and how frequently certain categories are accessed.
Usage and Purpose:
- To generate high-accuracy Bible passage suggestions tailored to your current situation.
- To refine the AI recommendation engine and improve future spiritual insights.
- To understand which emotional contexts are most helpful to our user base through internal analytics.
MEDICAL DISCLAIMER: Selah is NOT a medical, clinical, or mental health application. We do not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or clinical treatment. The emotional data processed is used strictly for spiritual reflection and scripture discovery.
4. Data Association & Anonymization
All interactions, search queries, and emotional contexts are associated exclusively with a randomly generated Application Identifier (UID) created upon installation.
- The UID is not connected to your real-world identity.
- It is not linked to your email, name, or any third-party account.
- This allows us to maintain your preferences and improve features without knowing who you are.
5. Data Sharing and Third Parties
Selah does not sell your personal or emotional data. We do not share your information with advertising networks or data brokers. Data is only shared with:
- Infrastructure Providers: Secure backend systems (e.g., hosting and AI processing) necessary to operate the App’s features.
- Legal Compliance: Only if required by law to comply with a judicial proceeding or legal process.
6. Data Retention & Deletion Policy
We retain anonymous usage data as long as necessary to provide and improve our services.
Your Rights: Under Google Play policies, you have the right to request the deletion of your data. Since we do not have accounts, you can request the deletion of data associated with your UID or any communication sent to us via "Contact Us" by emailing alfredososa293developer@gmail.com.
7. Children's Privacy
Selah is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a minor has provided us with data, please contact us immediately for removal.
8. Security Measures
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, please be aware that no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
